Composition
Enalapril maleate 5 or 20 mg.

Indications
1-Treatment of Hypertension.
2-Treatment of Heart Failure.

Dosage
Hypertension
In mild hypertension: 10 mg (half 20 mg tablet) once daily.
In moderate hypertension: 20 mg (one 20 mg tablet) once daily.
Heart Failure
The initial dose is 2.5 mg (half 5 mg tablet) to be increased gradually as tolerated by the patient.

How Supplied
Acapril 5 mg tablet: Box containing 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 strips, each of 10 tablets & inner leaflet.
Acapril 20 mg tablet: Box containing 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 strips, each of 10 tablets & inner leaflet.

Mechanism of action
Acapril inhibits Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the angiotensin II which results in decreased plasma angiotensin II.
