ciprofloxacin 0.3%
Composition
Each 1 ml contains:
ciprofloxacin HCl 3.5 mg (Equivalent to ciprofloxacin 3 mg).
benzalkonium chloride 50 % (as a preservative) 0.0002 ml.


Indications
Treatment of corneal ulcers in adults and children 12 months of age or older.
Treatment of conjunctivitis and blepharitis in adults and children 12 months of age or older.


Dosage
Corneal Ulcers:
- First 6 hours: 2 drops in the affected eye / 15 minutes.
- Remainder of the 1st day: 2 drops in the affected eye / 30 minutes.
- Second day: 2 drops in the affected eye / 1 hour.
- Third to fourteenth day: 2 drops in the affected eye / 4 hours.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis/Blepharitis:
- First 2 days: 1-2 drops / 2 hours while awake.
- Next 5 days: 1-2 drops / 4 hours while awake.


How Supplied
Carton box containing Plastic dropper bottle of 5 ml and an inner leaflet.

Mechanism of action
The bactericidal action of Ciprofox results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase which is needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA.

Special Populations
Pregnancy:
Ciprofloxacin should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Nursing Mothers:
Caution should be exercised when ciprofloxacin is administered to a nursing mother.
Pediatric Use:
Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 1 year have not been established.
